My Irreplaceable Everyday Life
Year 2. The curtain rose on our 2nd winter break at Advanced Nurturing High School. It’s not like I wanted to do anything in particular. But… It would be best if I was able to enjoy my holidays in the same way as the majority of students do.
Such fulfilling days.
However, the time I have remaining is slowly but surely shrinking. I’m not anxious about that at all. I already feel more than satisfied just by being able to live my life freely for so long.
Friends. Lover. Seniors and juniors. New relationships.
Within this school where there are all sorts of people going about their daily lives, I was also able to live as one of them.
Everything from here on out is an extension. I will make the most out of the remaining time I will be allowed to remain here as a student, all the way to the very last second.
And one day I will be forced to part ways.
Nothing about today is guaranteed. Neither is tomorrow.
I need to remain aware that these days are irreplaceable.
Song of Loneliness
24th of December. The first day of the Winter break. That morning I opened my eyes while feeling a little out of sorts.
“…That sure was a strange dream”, I muttered as I slowly lifted my upper body.
Although it wasn’t a lot, it seems I’d sweated a little in my sleep. Usually, I wouldn’t be so conscious of a dream I had. Regardless of whether a dream was good or bad, a dream was a dream and it wasn’t real. And humans were generally creatures that forgot about their dreams. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were exceptions, but I wasn’t one of them. Even if I remembered it immediately after waking up, it would slip from my memory in the blink of an eye.
“—For example, dreaming that my homeroom teacher was dressed as a bunny girl…”
Even if one were to try to resist forgetting about it, it would typically be a futile effort. If someone else heard this, it’d probably make them tilt their heads in confusion. No, I don’t think my dream was actually about bunny girls.
